Home of the Bulldogs! The Keeseville Volunteer Fire Department -(circa 1878) is one of the oldest and largest volunteer fire departments found in the Adirondacks. The primary service territory is that of the Ausable-Chersterfield-Keeseville Joint Fire District. This district includes the Village of Keeseville, the Town of Ausable and the Town of Chesterfield. The KVFD also provides mutual aid assistance by written mutual aid agreements to the Counties of Clinton, Essex and Franklin. They also provide assistance to the State of Vermont and the Province of Quebec, Canada. In total they cover a total area of over 150 square miles.The department is made up of varying levels of volunteers:1). Active Members: They must be 18 years or older and of good moral character, sound body and mind.**All Active members must complete the NYS Essentials of Firemanship course within 1 year of becoming an active member and the NYS 1st responder course within 2 years of becoming a member**2). Honorary Members: Voted on by the active members, they have no rights or privileges except on invitation of the organization.3). Retired Members: Resigned in good standing after 20 years of active service. They are provided with a key to the fire station and receive station privileges as determined by the Executive Committee.4). Auxiliary: The Auxiliary is made up of the wives, husbands, brothers or sisters (over 18) or parents of an approved Fire department member. |
